Soak It All In Now
]
If you doubt whether or not you’ll have time for a hike/bike/trail run this weekend, don’t doubt, just do. Trust me. The colors in northwest Colorado are spectacular right now and hopefully they are on track wherever you are as well. The fall air is crisp, the breeze brings your nose that familiar dead animal musty scent, the leaves are yellow, orange, and red and crunch underneath as you go. The golden light through the trees glows like a low fire and frames every landscape as if it were the fall cover of a Sunset magazine. This is such a great time of year; we treat every day that we wake up to blue skies and sunshine like it just might be the BEST DAY EVER. Whether you are running or biking, fall singletrack is the best singletrack. There’s just something about the yellow leaves on the trail that gives the singletrack a new feel, like it’s been specially adorned with gold just for you. As each day seems to get more and more beautiful, you feel like you’re stealing an extra day of fun from summer. The anticipation of a long, dark, and snowy winter makes us Coloradans praise a sunny and warm fall as if Ullr’s kid brother, the god of indian summer, has something to do with it. hmmmm…he needs a name. Maybe Fallr? Anyways, let’s all continue to bike, hike, run, and play like it’s summer but don’t forget to stop and smell the decaying plant life along the way because we don’t want to upset Fallr and then he’ll call his older brother Ullr and we’ll be skiing in no time...
